ESD Handbook TR20.20 Table 1 lists under Typical Static Electricity Sources "Brushes (camel/pig hair and synthetic bristles)." "It should be understood that any object, item, material or person could be a source of static electricity in the work environment. Removal of unnecessary nonconductors, replacing nonconductive materials with dissipative or conductive materials and grounding all conductors are the principle methods of controlling static electricity in the workplace, regardless of the activity." • 35686 - Dissipative Brushes

ESD Safe Cleaning Brushes | Avoid Damaging Electronics & PCB Boards with Static Discharge

CONDUCTIVE BRUSHES
Conductive brushes have a surface resistivity range of 102 - 104 and are ideal when you need to remove static build up from a work surface. Conductive materials allow charges to move freely across their surfaces or through their volume and dissipation of static charges from grounded conductive materials tends to be complete and rapid. Conductive brushes will provide a conduit from the charged surfaces to ground.

DISSIPATIVE BRUSHES
Dissipative brushes have a surface resistivity of 105 - 1011. This is a higher resistivity than the conductive brushes, but prevents static build up in the brushes themselves. Dissipative materials allow charges to move slowly across their volume. They are ideal for removing any static charge that might result in adhesion of particles to an object.

ANTI-STATIC BRUSHES
Anti-static brushes are made from low charging materials, or natural animal hair that are static neutral.
