Question
Have you experienced the Eliminator Jr. increasing humidity in air? Have any suggestions? - Anonymous, Fremont, CA
Answer
Seeing how there is less than 1% hydrogen in ambient air, even if the oxygen present in the air recombined with the H2 the % RH could not increase significantly in comparison to ambient. I think what is happening is when you place pressure changes (wind/fan) in the measured area the measured %RH will be different than the ambient pressure areas, typically higher as explained below. Relative humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air compared with the amount of vapor needed to make the air saturated at the air’s current temperature. If the air held the same amount of humidity e.g., at ambient conditions of 35% RH and 72 F and this air goes through a fan (pressure change and dew point change) then the wind chill affect from the fan may make the relative temperature go down to 68 F but since the air is holding the same amount of moisture then it will increase its relative humidity e.g., 40% RH @ 68 F. The actual amount of moisture in the air doesn’t change, just the relative humidity.
